The final draft of the 12th five-year Plan has been reported to favour permitting higher education institutions to be run for profit. Even though the proposal appears to have run into opposition from the human resource development ministry, it will be a game-changer if implemented. There's no denying that higher education in the country leaves a lot to be desired.
